These bronzes are the result of a lifetime's fascination with woodcock and 12 years of ringing and tagging in collaboration with GWCT's woodcock research project. This up-close familiarity with the species has had a major influence on Owen's understanding of both the form and unique personality of woodcock.
About the artist
Owen's passion for painting sporting pictures come from a childhood of fishing and shooting. These were activities that many country lads became absorbed in once they were of an age to be trusted to stray more than a few fields away from the home and venture to meadow, moorland, lake and stream.
